Accommodation in Snowdonia
Encil Eryri (Snowdonia Hideaway) is set in the heart of Snowdonia National Park, between mountains and sea and close to the seaside towns of Tywyn and Aberdyfi. We offer a range of quirky and luxurious self catering cottages and glamping in the South Snowdonia National Park with coast and mountain views suitable for families and couples, or a larger family group of up to 12. The smallholding is located just above a request halt on the famous Tal Y Llyn steam railway, so it is possible to arrive by steam train, yes, really!
With a 20 minute walk to the estuary, local shop, and pub, it’s the perfect location to relax, restore and explore the wonderful beaches and historic sites of Snowdonia, Gwynedd. The Southern Snowdonia National Park is less explored, so you won’t be sharing it with hundreds of other tourists, like the North Snowdonia equivalent. In contrast, there is always space to be found and an empty beach, especially out of season. Encil Eryri is close to good cycle routes and it’s possible to enjoy flat open vistas and rolling hills, as well as craggy off road descents, all within a stone’s throw of the cottages.
Spend your days exploring Snowdonia’s scenic mountain roads, hills tops and sheltered woodland walks. Then return to Encil Eryri for a cuppa and a read of a good book. Sample the warming flavours of Wales’ seasonal produce at the many award-winning local restaurants nearby. Set aside some time to get close to nature and connect with the big outdoors and those you love.
This year we have glamping in a beautiful bell tent in our 2 acre flower meadow, with wood fired hot tub.
The Crogloft is a converted hayloft situated in the upper garden, with its own private garden area, kitchenette, private bathroom and balcony for you to enjoy the elements of the great outdoors. It is perfect for stargazing as we are in a protected ‘dark skies’ region and fans of astronomy will love the rooflight to view the stars and sun rise from your bed. There is also an easy slide sun shade curtain when you want to block out the light. The Crogloft also has a fire pit and is furnished with a double bed and a double futon sofa bed, the kitchen has a twin induction gas hob, microwave and fridge-freezer. While you do have to go outdoors to use the loo, the crogloft is warm and cosy for that feeling of connection to nature, with the luxury of staying out of the elements.
Tynllwyn Hen is a beautifully decorated home which is fully self contained. It has a private garden area, large kitchen-diner-lounge with panoramic views of Snowdonia sunsets, mountains and coastline, a king size bedroom with en suite bathroom and a twin bedroom with ground floor shower room. It also has a double sofa bed and sun room looking directly to Cadair Idris and Aran Fawddwy mountain ranges. It is perfect as a base for adventures out to see all the attractions Snowdonia has to offer. Sample local seasonal food in the nearby restaurants or cook local produce in the well-equipped kitchen.
Tynllwyn Hen also has access to a BBQ area and bike storage as there are plenty of mountain bike and road trails nearby.
The Pottery is a converted milking parlour which has a double bedroom and sofa bed, shower room, hot tub and stunning sunset views over Cambrian Bay. The bedroom looks out to rolling hills and sheep fields, with it’s own enclosed garden for letting the dog out. It has a BBQ and garden furniture perfect for enjoying a beer with friends or family, with stunning sea and sunset views. A comfortable self catering cottage in the winter too, with cast iron radiators and a log burner for those cosy nights in. The Pottery has solar hot water heating- enjoy a low carbon shower with no fossil fuels required to heat the water during the summer.
